Lock Installation Service
New lock installation is required whenever a door doesn’t have a lock, an existing lock is being completely replaced, or a new access point — gate, outbuilding, or shed — needs securing. FastLockAssist carries a comprehensive range of locks for all door and access point types, and our engineers have the specialist tools to fit them correctly.
New Door Lock Fitting
UPVC and composite doors — new UPVC and composite doors often come with a basic multi-point lock fitted as standard, but the supplied euro cylinder is frequently a low-security grade. We replace the OEM cylinder with a proper anti-snap, anti-pick, anti-drill version and ensure the multipoint mechanism is correctly adjusted.
Timber doors — new timber doors from a joinery or replacement door supplier may arrive pre-drilled for a specific mortice lock size, or may require the mortice to be cut on site. We have the chisels, router bits, and drilling jigs to fit mortice locks precisely in any thickness of timber.
Steel doors — common in converted commercial premises and purpose-built flats. Steel doors require specific drill bits and techniques. We carry the appropriate tooling for steel door lock fitting.
Aluminium doors — typically used in commercial settings and modern residential developments. We fit locks in aluminium door sections without causing frame damage.
Window Lock Installation
Ground-floor and accessible upper-floor windows are a common entry point. We install:
- Key-operated sash window locks — for both sliding and casement sash windows
- Casement window espagnolette bolts — multi-point locking for casement windows
- Window restrictors — for upper floors where ventilation is needed without full opening
- Tilt-and-turn window locks — for European-style windows common in modern builds
Most insurers specify key-operated locks on ground-floor windows. We fit them with minimal disruption to the window frame and finish.
Gate and Outbuilding Locks
Side gates and outbuildings provide access to rear gardens and are a common route for burglars gaining concealed access to rear doors. We install:
- Padlocks and hasps — for outbuilding and shed doors, in various security grades
- Gate locking handles — for wooden garden gates
- Rim deadlocks for outbuildings — surface-mounted, easy to fit on shed and garage doors
- Ground anchors — for securing bikes and equipment in outbuildings
All gate and outbuilding locks are selected for weather resistance as well as security.
New Build and Renovation Projects
We work with building contractors, developers, and architects on new build and major renovation projects. For projects requiring multiple locks across a development, we can coordinate visits around your build schedule and provide documentation for handover packs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our lock installation service.
What types of locks can you install?
We install all types: mortice deadlocks, sash locks, rim latches, euro cylinder multipoint locks, UPVC gearbox systems, composite door cylinders, padlocks, window locks, patio door locks, and gate locks. If a door or access point needs a lock, we can fit one.
Do you supply the lock or do I provide it?
We supply locks as standard — parts are included in the quoted price. If you've already purchased a specific lock, we can fit it, but we cannot guarantee its security rating or provide a warranty on parts we haven't supplied.
Can you install a lock on a brand-new door?
Yes. New doors often come pre-drilled for specific lock types. We can fit locks to new-build doors, replacement doors, and bespoke joinery. We work with builders and joiners who need locks fitted before completion.
What lock do I need for my insurance?
Most home insurance policies require BS3621 five-lever mortice deadlock on the front door and BS3621 deadlocks on back and side doors. Some insurers also specify window locks on ground-floor windows. We can check your policy requirements before fitting.
How much does a lock installation cost?
Lock installation starts from £59 for a straightforward window lock or patio door bolt, up to £149 for a full mortice lock installation in a solid timber door. We quote before starting. No call-out fee.
