Lock Change & Repair Service

A working, secure lock is the foundation of your home or business security. Whether your lock has worn out gradually, been damaged, or you simply want to upgrade to a higher standard, FastLockAssist provides a straightforward supply-and-fit service with no call-out fee.

When to Change Your Locks

There are several common situations where a lock change is the right choice:

After moving into a new property — This is the single most important time to change your locks. Previous owners, tenants, tradespeople, and their associates may all have copies of the keys. A lock change is cheap compared to the cost of a break-in.

After a break-in or attempted break-in — Forced entry often damages the lock or frame. Even if the lock looks intact, the internal mechanism may be compromised.

After losing your keys — Especially if the lost keys have your address on a keyring or were stolen rather than simply mislaid.

When a lock becomes stiff or difficult to operate — Worn cylinders and mechanisms cause progressive failure. A stiff lock today can become a locked-out situation tomorrow.

When upgrading for insurance compliance — Many home insurance policies require a minimum of BS3621 five-lever mortice deadlock on the front door. We can advise on what your policy requires.

Repair vs Replacement

We always assess the existing lock first. In many cases, a barrel replacement (for euro cylinder locks) is sufficient and significantly cheaper than a full lock change. For mortice locks, worn levers can sometimes be adjusted; for UPVC multipoint locks, it’s often the cylinder or the gearbox that needs replacing rather than the full mechanism.

We’ll give you an honest assessment and a clear price for both options if both are viable.

What We Carry

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our lock change & repair service.

How do I know if I need a lock change or just a repair?

If the lock is worn, stiff, or has had keys cut many times, a replacement is usually more cost-effective. If the mechanism has failed suddenly (e.g. snapped key, jammed bolt), repair or barrel replacement is often sufficient. We'll assess on arrival and advise honestly.

Do I need to change my locks after moving into a new house?

Yes — we strongly recommend it. You have no way of knowing how many keys are in circulation from previous occupants. A lock change gives you complete control over who has access.

What brands of locks do you fit?

We carry locks and cylinders from leading UK brands including Yale, Mul-T-Lock, Ultion, ERA, and Avocet. We recommend locks that meet BS3621 — the minimum standard required by most home insurers.

Can you match the new lock to my existing keys?

In some cases, yes — particularly for euro cylinder replacements within the same brand. However, for security reasons we usually recommend re-keying rather than matching old keys.

How much does a lock change cost?

Lock change prices start from £49 for a standard cylinder replacement and run up to £129 for more complex installations with premium parts. We quote before starting.
