Being locked out of your home or workplace is one of those situations that demands an immediate, reliable response. At FastLockAssist, our emergency lockout service is available around the clock, every day of the year — including bank holidays, Christmas, and the early hours of the morning.

How We Gain Entry

Our engineers are trained in the full range of non-destructive entry techniques. For most standard locks — yale nightlatches, euro cylinders, and sash locks — we can pick or manipulate the lock open without causing any damage to the door or frame. This is always our first approach.

For situations where picking isn’t possible — such as high-security locks, seized mechanisms, or broken key extractions — we may need to drill the lock out. We will always explain this to you before we drill and give you a clear quote for the replacement lock.

What Happens After Entry

Once you’re back inside, we don’t just leave. We assess the condition of your lock and advise whether it needs:

• Adjustment — the lock is fine but the door alignment is slightly off
• Repair — the lock mechanism is worn or damaged but repairable
• Replacement — the lock is compromised or beyond repair and should be changed

We carry a full range of British Standard cylinders and locks on every van, so if a replacement is needed we can usually fit it on the same visit.

Common Lockout Scenarios We Handle

• Lost or forgotten keys — the most common type; we can open the door and discuss whether a spare key cut or lock change is advisable
• Broken key in lock — we extract the broken key piece and assess whether the lock barrel needs replacing
• Lock jammed or seized — often caused by worn components or misaligned doors; we free the mechanism and diagnose the root cause
• Locked in — less common but we handle situations where a lock failure has trapped someone inside
• Door double-locked from outside — common with sash bolts and nightlatches
• UPVC multipoint lock failure — the gear mechanism inside a UPVC door can fail, causing the door to lock in the closed position even without a key turn
